Day 4: Steak! - Niko(advanced)

Day 4: Steak Day

As the fourth day of Art of Cooking Began the advanced group got into their teams and started
prepping to make an amazing steak dish. We started off by preparing are filet cuts by seasoning them and placing them in the fridge.

Our group stuck to the simple seasoning of salt and pepper. As the steaks reset in the fridge we began to prepare our potatoes and Mac & Cheese. The potatoes were nice and simple as the just needed to be microwaved so we could scoop them out, however we had to make sure that the potatoes were properly perforated or else the potato skins would peal of the meat. The Mac&cheese was a much more patient process. We stared off by getting out pasta into its boiling water and then making the cheese sauce. The Cheese sauce had a number of different seasonings in it such as mustard power, onion powder, and even hot sauce. After or sauce was done we simply added it to the cooked pasta and mixed it together.

When we finished the pasta the steaks were out of the fridge and ready to start cooking. Along with our steak we also grilled asparagus which we decided to wrap in bacon to add some extra flavor! Our group decided to go with a medium rare cook on our steaks, which turned out great. Although the plan was to grill the steaks I personally decided to cook mine on a a skillet. while we only had garlic I was able to add a nice garlic butter base along with a strong sear to my steak. I was proud of how it turned out, even though there was a bit too much pepper. While some steaks where a little undercooked or a little over cooked they all turned out great and to each persons liking. With a nicely finished  plate of Steak, asparagus, Mac&cheese, and potatoes everybody was satisfied with the work that they had done to create a well seasoned and well cooked meal. While there were a bumps along the way I would say that our group did greta job of staying on task and forced on each steak to make that they all got the desired outcome on their cook.
